PROJECT LUMAH

LUMAH, derived from the Balinese word for "home," presents an innovative solution to the architectural challenges faced by Indonesia, a nation rich in culture but highly susceptible to seismic events, volcanic activity, and coastal flooding due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire. Traditional, rigid architecture often fails catastrophically under such conditions, necessitating a radical rethinking of remote habitat design.

LUMAH proposes a deployable, off-grid, self-reliant cabin engineered for profound adaptability and total resilience. It rejects fragile traditional building methods in favor of geometry-based, naturally strengthened bamboo as a structural material. This dual-purpose sanctuary is designed to provide immediate, dignified, and culturally sensitive safe spaces for local Indonesian communities after natural disasters, and to offer a stable, autonomous, and contemplative off-grid retreat for digital nomads seeking uninterrupted focus and security.
